Brene Brown puts it this way, “Clear is kind, unclear is unkind.” Does that resonate with you? It sure does with me.
Her statement about the power and the importance of communication presents us with an opportunity. Namely, if we are to continue to grow our exceptional SMCS community and raise our children to be a certain type of person; if we are going to try and build the kingdom and win disciples in His name; if we are to create an extraordinary Catholic educational experience second to none, we must share our thinking with one another. In short, if we are to make SMCS all that it can be, we must communicate. All of us.
It is in that spirit that I have created this blog. In these posts, I hope to share information about our School’s plans and direction. I hope to convey a sense of the wonderful accomplishments of our students and teachers. I want to share how our Catholic faith animates and gives purpose to all we do.
There is a powerful poem by William Stafford that speaks to the power of communication. If you are interested, the link to it is here.
This is an exciting time to be part of St. Mary Catholic Schools. Our parishes are blessed with dynamic servant-leaders dedicated to building discipleship. Our enrollment continues to grow even in the teeth of opposing cultural trends. Our extraordinary facilities provide opportunities to our students that normally are only available at much larger schools. Our passionate teachers are committed to professional growth, meeting the needs of every child, and to the importance of being a role model to our children. Finally, our commitment to making our schools accessible to all children regardless of family finances underscores our Catholic identity. In these and so may other ways, SMCS stands apart. What a great time to be a Zephyr!
I look forward to continuing this conversation as we walk together on this journey.
