The five Catholic parishes of Neenah and Menasha, in partnership with St. Mary Catholic Schools, announce Steve Pable as the new Director of Adult Discipleship Formation for the local Catholic community. The pastoral leaders of the parishes created this position in response to Bishop David Ricken’s call to form 1,000 missionary disciples in the Diocese of Green Bay by 2025.

In his role as Director of Adult Discipleship Formation, Pable will design and direct a total Neenah-Menasha adult discipleship and faith formation strategy. As a staff member of all five parishes, Pable will work to integrate the parishes’ family and youth programs in ways that best serve and connect adult parishioners, supporting them as they encounter Jesus. “We have many areas of ministry,”, said Pable, “but at heart, our faith communities exist to lead each person to become an intentional disciple of Jesus. We welcome others to discover a relationship with the Lord and one another. We worship at the altar and in our homes. We witness to others, bringing Good News to the world and to our neighbors. This is who disciples are, and what we do: we welcome, we worship, we witness.”

A key focus of the Director of Adult Discipleship Formation will be connecting and serving parents of school-age children as they seek to live the Gospel in their homes. As the Director of Adult Discipleship Formation, Pable will work with pastors, parish faith formation leaders, and St. Mary Catholic Schools President Dan McKenna to identify opportunities to partner with parents. St. Gabriel pastor Fr. Bob Kollath summarized this mission: “At the baptism of a child, we pray a blessing over the parents. ‘As the first teachers of your child, may you also be the best of teachers, giving witness to the Gospel in word and deed.’ Our parishes pledge to equip parents to fulfill their baptismal promise.”

Pable brings to the role of Director of Adult Discipleship Formation more than eighteen years’ experience working in Catholic education, as a Director of Religious Education, and most recently Pastoral Associate at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish. He holds an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife Amee have four children, ages 14-22, and are members of St. Margaret Mary Parish. In addition to his parish ministry, Steve writes scriptural reflections on the themes of everyday discipleship and evangelization. His work is featured regularly in devotional publications like Living Faith and The Word Among Us.
