St. Mary Catholic Schools is pleased to offer an evening of Chinese cooking and food. The class is taught by Angela Leong, a local cook with a multi-ethnic cultural heritage who has a palate for and knowledge of cooking traditional, flavorful Asian cuisine. Leong will guide participants in learning about and trying Chinese cooking techniques, focusing on home-cooked comfort foods that are the staples of traditional Chinese meals. Time permitting, menu items will include Chinese caramelized pork chops, soy sauce chicken and bok choy stir fry. Participants will take home recipes, ingredients and the knowledge to prepare things like the brown sauce that is common to many Chinese dishes.
The class is open to anyone aged fifth graders through adult, but those under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The class will take place on Saturday, November 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the kitchen of St. Mary Catholic Middle School, 1000 Zephyr Drive in Neenah.
As an offering sponsored by the St. Mary Catholic High School Confucius Classroom program, there is no cost to participate. However, a maximum of 15 participants will be possible, so please register no later than Thursday, November 12 by contacting Molly Griffin at [email protected] or 722-7796 ext 803.
