Fine Arts

SMCMS’s activities, athletic teams and clubs work hand-in hand with the school’s academic program to educate each student as a whole person. These activities are integral to the well-rounded spiritual, intellectual, physical and psychological development fostered in every student at St. Mary Catholic Middle School. Fees are required for many activities, but special arrangements can be made if the fee is a hardship.  Register online for a fine arts activity.

In addition to fine arts opportunities offered as part of the curriculum at St. Mary Catholic Middle School, the following co-curricular offerings are enjoyed by students:

Forensics

Open to all grades, students practice and compete from December through March, participating in approximately three meets per year. Categories include play-acting, group interpretation, prose, poetry, solo acting, storytelling and demonstrations.

Marching Band

A combined ensemble comprised of members from the middle school and high school bands, this marching group performs at halftime of the high school homecoming game, as well as parades at homecoming, the Appleton downtown Christmas parade and Neenah-Menasha Memorial Day parade.

Musical Theater

SMCMC presents junior editions of a musical each spring. Past productions include junior versions (adapted for middle school) of Annie, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof and Peter Pan. Students take on acting, assistant directing, producing and stage crew roles. SMCMS performs its musical each spring at the Jane Bergstrom Fine Arts Education Center.
